One should not leave The Shire unless one knows where one wants to go, for the road is not always the one we expect. We never expect Orcs or Trolls or even Men along the way as any journey is both filled with light and darkness.

Good lord, a little whisky from New Zealand, and the next thing you know you’re speaking Elvish and about to go on about Dwarves and Hobbits dancing under the sparks of fireflies, flitting away on a mid-summer’s night.

We head very far south for this episode of One Show, One Drink. We start by sampling through Single Malts from the Pōkeno Whisky Company south of Auckland. New to the US, Pōkeno is part of a new wave of distilleries in New Zealand. Thanks to ImpEx Beverages for allowing to see what’s going on down under!

And we found a perfect pairing for Pōkeno! Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a little movie from the man with his fingers seemingly on everything these days, director Taika Waititi. Set in the bushland of New Zealand and starring Sam Neil, this one just oozes of laughs and heart. We happily climb trees, cross creeks, and scramble rocks in the wilds to watch this one.

Grab a dram and listen in to this delightful episode. If not, we’ll send the Boozedancing Cave Troll after you. Yes, we have a cave troll.
