While Germany may not have gone as far as they would have liked in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it’s good to know that they can console their agony of defeat by sipping (or chugging!) a beer that was specially packaged to cheer them on during their campaign. The beer is by Bitburger of Bitburg, Germany and it’s a Pilsner. The version that we’ll be reviewing comes in 16 ounce cans that have labeling designed to celebrate the German National Team and their World Cup efforts.
Here’s what Bitburger has to say about this beer on their website:
Without a doubt, pils (also called ‘pilsner’) is Germany’s favourite style of beer. Fans of this style of brewing enjoy the dry, bitter flavour and light colour that is typical of the beers it produces. The name originates from the Bohemian town of Pilsen in the Czech Republic, where it was first produced in 1842, and we’ve been brewing this style of beer to perfection here in Bitburg since 1909. We lay claim to using the term “Pilsener” as an official designated beer style in Germany, way back in 1883.
And over the years it’s grown quite popular – we’re incredibly proud that Bitburger Premium Pils is a popular beer in bars throughout Germany.
Our straw-coloured pilsner is crystal-clear and perfectly hopped, boasting a light taste and a lasting foam head with extra-fine bubbles. This all combines for a moment of pure pilsner enjoyment.
Since it’s been more than a little warm this summer, Pilsners are perfect to cool you down when the temps are more than a little uncomfortably warm. To find out if this beer meets our summer refresher requirements, click play on the above video.
