The last time we tried a Hercules Mulligan ready-to-drink cocktail, we couldn’t help ourselves and threw some lyrics related to Hercules Mulligan from Lin Manuel-Miranda’s musical, Hamilton, into our product intro. We’ll skip all that this time around and just get right into it…
A few weeks ago, we received word that a second Hercules Mulligan cocktail expression was recently released. Given how much we enjoyed the Rum & Rye that we reviewed back in March of 2022, we couldn’t resist asking if review samples would once again be available. As luck would have it, they were!
This time around, instead of an Old Fashioned variation, the Hercules Mulligan folks went with a Manhattan variation. Here’s what they have to say about it on the Flaviar website:
Hercules Mulligan, now one of the fastest-growing ready-to-drink brands in the States, started its outstanding story with Rum & Rye, the beloved bottled Old Fashioned. It’s named after the unsung hero of the American Revolution, the spy haberdasher who immigrated from Ireland, immensely helped the cause, and saved G. Washington’s life twice.
Like the man, the latest release, Hercules Mulligan Eyr & Rye, lives a double life—blending two iconic Spirits from both sides of the Pond, uniting their distinct features into a ready-to-drink Manhattan. The Irish twist on the classy & classic cocktail is a blend of three Rye Whiskeys, two Irish Whiskeys, aromatic and cherry bitters, and a splash of cherry juice.
The first batch of 2,000 bottles will be available exclusively to Flaviar customers, who’ll get a chance to help us improve the recipe before Hercules Mulligan Eyr & Rye hits the traditional markets. Gather your inner circle at an undisclosed location, and share your secrets over a glass of ready-made Irish-American Manhattan—in honor of the tailor/drinker/soldier/spy from Manhattan.
