For those of you that aren’t well versed in state bird facts, the Blue Hen is the official state bird of Delaware. It’s also the name of the University of Delaware sports teams. And now it’s the name of a Pilsner made by the pride of Milton, Delaware, aka Dogfish Head Brewery.
On today’s episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we’re gonna give Blue Hen Pilsner a try, but before we get to the review, here’s what Dogfish Head has to say about it:
Blue Hen Pilsner is a crisp and refreshing pilsner brewed with only four ingredients – water, hops, yeast, and Delaware-grown and malted barley. Giving a loving nod to our slight yet mighty home state, the label art features the Delaware state bird and a color palette similar to that of the Delaware state flag!
That is an unusually straightforward description for a Dogfish Head beer. I mean, off-centered is their calling card, and yet this sounds anything but off-centered. To find out what we thought of Blue Hen Pilsner click the play button on the following video:
