The Dalmore 18 Review

On today’s episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we’re reviewing an 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky expression from The Dalmore, a Highland distillery located in Alness, Scotland which is 20 miles north of Inverness.

Here’s what The Dalmore has to say about this whisky:

The Dalmore 18 Year is an evolution of The Dalmore house style that harnesses bolder notes.

The spirit is initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, yielding soft vanilla and honey notes. For its final maturation, the whisky is transferred into casks which have held 30-Year Old Matusalem Oloroso Sherry. These casks are exclusively provided to The Dalmore from the renowned Gonzalez Byass bodega and give the whisky its rich, deep chocolate character.

Volume: 750ml

ABV: 43%

To be 100% honest, we’ve never been big fans of The Dalmore. It’s not that there’s anything particularly wrong with their whiskies, they just don’t speak to us for whatever reason. Given all that, we went in to this tasting with a healthy dose of skepticism. Was this 18 year old expression good enough to change our minds about The Dalmore?
