Beer Review – Flying Fish Brewing Co. Salt and Sea

For those of us in the Middle Atlantic United States, towns such as Cape May, The Wildwoods, Avalon, Ocean City, Atlantic City, etc. remind us of summers with the family spent at a relatives vacation home or at some crappy motel with a pool. Ah the Jersey Shore…

The sun.
The sand.
The Atlantic Ocean.
The Bay.
The Causeways.
The boardwalks.
The nasty sunburns because SPF wasn’t a thing when we were kids.
The jellyfish.
The amusement parks.
The casinos.
The craptastic foods, i.e. monkey bread, curly fries, mediocre pizza, salt water taffy, and so much more!

With all of these distant and not so distant memories in mind, our friendly neighborhood brewery, aka Flying Fish Brewing Co of Somerdale, NJ (a mere 2.6 miles from our homes), has brewed up a beer to honor them. The name of this beer is Salt and Sea. Here’s what they have to say about it:

Memories are made by the sea, and this Session Sour is inspired by evenings on the boardwalk. Enticing aromas of strawberry and lime evoke hints of salt water taffy, providing a souvenir twist to this unique style.

Malts: Superior Pilsen, Wheat, Acidulated Malt
Hops: Columbus
Yeast: Chico Ale
Original Gravity: 11.6P
Alcohol by Volume: 4.3%
IBU’s: 8
