With school stuff officially underway, it’s easy to understand why we might think that summer is coming to a close. But then we look at the calendar and realize that we’re very very wrong. There are a couple of weeks left before we officially step into fall, so there’s plenty of time left for warm-weather-centric cocktails that will keep us happy and hydrated.
One such drink is called Ranch Water, and thanks to a recent post about it on Liquor.com, we decided to give it a try. Here’s an excerpt from the Liquor.com website that explains what Ranch Water is all about:
The once-niche Ranch Water has found mainstream success: National chain restaurants including On the Border and Buffalo Wild Wings have added versions of Ranch Water to their menus, and many companies have developed canned hard seltzer versions, including Dos Equis, Lone River, and even Topo Chico. It’s worth noting that many of these seltzers employ malt liquor rather than tequila. Thankfully, it’s easy to make the real thing on your own with the three-ingredient recipe below. Opt for your favorite blanco tequila; if you want a sweeter drink, you can add a splash of orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier. If you don’t have Topo Chico on hand, you can certainly swap in another sparkling mineral water or even club soda—just don’t tell a Texan.
And here’s the recipe:
- 1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- Topo Chico, chilled, to top (about 6 ounces)
- Garnish: lime wedge
- Add all ingredients into a collins or highball glass over ice and stir briefly and gently to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Cocktails don’t get much easier than that. For our version, we used Maverick Agave Blanco which we recently reviewed on the channel and really enjoyed, and Fever Tree Club Soda because we always have the fever for the Fever Tree!
