Just thought we’d share some information about this very special Whisky event from one of our favorite distilleries… On Thursday, September 24th, 8pm GMT, the 9th annual Laphroaig Live will broadcast on the web from the island of Islay! Laphroaig is this year celebrating 200 years, and to mark […]
A month or so ago, G-LO once again headed down to the mailbox and found another box of boozemail. I headed down to the mailbox and found begging letters from Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie. This once again confirms that G-LO really knows how to work […]
Back in May, we received six whisky samples from Impex Beverages. The collective name for these whiskies is The Exclusive Malts Batch #8 which includes a Balmenach 2007, Laphroaig 2005, Invergordon 1984, Irish Whiskey 2002, North Highland 2005, and Speyside 1991. Rather than share the samples and compare notes, […]
As most of you are well aware, we are big fans of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America, and have attended the last seven Fall Extravaganza events in Philadelphia, Spring Extravaganza event in New York in May of 2012, and the Fall Extravaganza event in LA in November of 2014. […]
Heaven Hill’s Pikesville Straight Rye is the second whiskey that Limpd and I sampled on that fateful night in mid-August when I once again darkened his door with my bag o’whiskey in hand (given my rather average stature, it’s amazing that I can darken any door. Or maybe […]
Once again, G-LO darkened my doorstep (it seems I start a lot of posts with this). Truth be told, I invited G-LO over for a short session. When I queried if it was to be whiskey or beer, he suggested that we do some research. This is his […]
A few weeks ago, while I was sweltering in the stands at a 7U baseball tournament, G-LO was living large at Pour-A-Palooza. Normally, I would insert some sort of snarky comment contrasting my exemplary parenting skills (I was staked out in the hot sun, all for a wee […]
The honorable G-LO-san and I recently experienced the serenity and harmony that is a well known Japanese whisky. Once the musing started, we found ourselves immersed in tranquility as we became one with nature and its beauty in a glass of the “water of life”. Then the kids […]

While it’s always fun to split the […]
As I mentioned at the end of “45 Hours in LA, Part III“, there were pub crawl rumblings afoot for my last night in town. We knew where we’d be starting the evening’s festivities (Tom Bergin’s Public House in West Hollywood), but the rest of the night was […]
