On a recent trip to NY, I ventured out to find a local beer to bring back to the fellow Dancers. Without any research, I picked up two sixes from Keegan Ales of
Kingston, NY. The first was the Hurricane Kitty. The second was the Old Capital. From the Keegan Ales site:
“This beer is named for the Kingston area’s rich historical heritage, is reflective of traditional tastes. Simply put, it’s a golden, crisp and refreshing beer. Whether it’s out on a Saturday night with the gang, or home with dinner midweek, Old Capital’s exceptional smoothness makes a great choice for every occasion.”
I found the Old Capital to have the following characteristics:
- Appearance: Golden and a little cloudy with good foam and lacing.
- Aroma: Sweet malt and citrus with a slight hint of hops.
- Taste: Crisp, citrusy with a smooth if slightly bitter hoppy finish.
- ABV: ?%
This was as good as advertised: crisp and refreshing. However, as with the Hurricane Kitty, this was an okay beer, not good, not great, just okay.
