Wrapping another weekend and enjoying some beautiful weather, G-LO and I, along with honorary Booze Dancer “Crazy Eye”, kicked back on my deck Sunday night and had some great brews (pictured above). Most of these brews are old friends, so this isn’t a full review of each. I will only say that each is worth a try. The brews included:
- Saranac IPA – A hops lovers brew on the nose and palate.
- Saranac Adirondack Lager – A well balanced German style lager.
- Saranac Black Forest – A Bavarian black beer. Crazy Eye detected hints of caramel and chocolate.
- Troegs Nugget Nectar – Hoppy and high ABV. One of my favorite brews.
- Bell’s Oberon Ale – A wheat ale. This one I’ve never had so I’ll let G-LO comment on his impression.
So maybe Saranac Sunday would be a better description than Sudsy Sunday, but whatever we call it, it was a good end to the weekend with friends and brew.

Why can’t the weather over the next few months be like this past weekend??? Talk about great nighttime weather to kick back and have a beer or two.
The Bell’s Oberon Ale was very tasty. It’s a pity that Bell’s is “dead to you”, cause you missed out on a really good beer. Then again, I only had one, and I’m sure splitting a non-bomber sized beer violates a Bro Code rule or two. It’s been a while since I’ve had a wheat beer, so this was a really nice change of pace. Crisp and refreshing for sure! I picked it up because it made Esquire’s recent list of great summer beers. If I see it again, I’ll be sure to pick up a couple bottles so that you can try one. Definitely one to keep around.
It’s been a year or two since I last had a Troegs Nugget Nectar, and I nearly forgot how good it it. The nose was incredibly fragrant and it smelled like the freshest citrus salad that you can possibly imagine. Oranges, grapefruits, tangerine… beautiful! It was seriously hoppy, but in a very refreshing way. Love it! I have a second one that I was saving for the wife, but I don’t think she stands a chance. Mine! All mine!

Amen on the weather! Unfortunately it will be ungodly hot and humid in a few weeks.
And, yes …. splitting a single beer is a violation (unless you are pouring a flight from single beers for tasting purposes). This may not be in the Bro Code but I’ll make sure to add it to the Wookie’s Laws.

What if the beer is nice Shandy? As the warm weather hits, I can’t think of a better beverage that has been made for splitting.
It sounds as if I missed a great Sudsy Sunday. At least, the Alemonger’s package has remained intact.

No splitting of beers (or whatever a “Shandy” is).
And please don’t write about the Ale Monger’s “package”. What you two txt each other about should remain private.

Looks like a good weekend!
I’m not a fan of the Troegs Nugget Nectar – a little too hoppy for me – but they do make one of my favorite beers, The Troegenator! Delicious!

It was a pretty good weekend.
I love hoppy beers so the Nugget Nectar is right up my alley but the Troegenator is a damn fine beer too.
