If you’ve ever watched an episode of pre-2015 Top Gear or The Grand Tour, then you’re definitely familiar with the gentleman behind the spirit that we’ll be discussing on today’s Murder Table tasting. It’s a Gin by James May that goes by the name of James Gin. The expression of James Gin that we’ll be reviewing is Asian Parsnip.
Here’s a bit more information about this James Gin expression taken directly from their website:
I had an idea for a gin that is very British, using parsnip – which reminds me of dampness – combined with the spicy sparkle of the Asian spices found in Indian food. So we created the unimaginatively named Asian Parsnip – celebrating both the homely flavour of that most English of root vegetables and the gastric stimulus of spices from India.
This gin – my first – celebrates both my homeland and the pleasures I’ve enjoyed over many decades of international travel at other people’s expense. It is a comfort and a thrill in equal measure, it has won many awards and is officially acknowledged as a vital component of UK multi-culturalism.
