Stone has made some rather lofty claims with the naming of this beer. Will it leave me floating on air? Can I now defy gravity?
Stone has some of the classiest looking labeling on their bottles, and their beers generally pour beautifully. If I were to judge this beer on looks alone, I would give it an A+, but since beer is made for drinking, let’s analyze it even further.
- Appearance: Reddish brown with a quickly dissipating head that leaves a good bit of lacing on the sides of the glass as it subsides.
- Aroma: Mild hoppiness and medium roast coffee.
- Taste: Lightly carbonated. Moderate hop bitterness up front. Very little sweetness from the malt. Slight bitter finish that reminds me of medium roast black coffee.
Am I floating? No. Did I enjoy this beer? Definitely! Stone Levitation Ale is a very session worthy ale, and at only 4.4% ABV, you can drink it all night long (I would love to try this on draught!). I give this beer an A-.
Cheers!
