Beer Review – Southampton Publick House Altbier

Düsseldorf-Style Brown Ale? Talk about a very specific type of beer. This is probably the first time that I’ve had this style of beer, and I’m finding the Southampton Publick House Altbier to be very smooth and easy drinking. The color is a crystal clear medium brown, the head dissolves quickly, and you can see the small bubbles floating to the surface. As far as the flavor, it is slightly sweet and leans more towards malt than hops. This beer is not heavily carbonated and the flavors do not linger very long on the palate, but what does remain is very appealing. I give this beer a solid B.

Cheers!
