Holiday season is cocktail season. And as we all know, family gatherings are their own season that REQUIRE cocktails. With holiday prep for a houseful of guests –both wanted and unwanted – at the top of the list, our latest episode of What We Watch When We Drink is our perfect gift to you.

If you’re making cocktails, you probably need bitters. And we got ‘em. Gene Cooper, founder of McMann & Tate Cocktail Co. is our guest among a return visit, and we chat up his line of cocktail bitters, salts and dried fruit garnishes. We even made cocktails for the show with our limited skills using a few of Gene’s bitters so we could dig into the art of constructing a fine cocktail (and drink) while learning more about McMann & Tate.

And in the spirit of the season, we watched a “holiday” movie to talk about: The Holdovers starring one of our favorite actors, Paul Giamatti. There’s snow, a Christmas tree, presents and drama. All the necessary elements for a Christmas movie.

Make yourself a hot toddy, a cup of egg nog, or a spritz with crushed peppermint candy sprinkled on top, mmmm, then sit back and enjoy our latest before the doorbell rings and the invasion starts.
